Welcome
Footprints Fellowship
A fellowship group of St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church · East Brunswick, New Jersey
Footprints Fellowship is the women's fellowship of St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church — friends who gather, serve, and show up for one another. This January we're heading to the lanes for our Bowl-a-Thon: register to bowl, or sponsor a bowler for every pin they knock down. Simple, joyful, and better together.

Our church home — St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church
Footprints Fellowship is a group of St. Mary's, so here is a little of our church's story. St. Mary's is described as the first Coptic Orthodox Church in Central Jersey, and a mother church to many churches in New Jersey and surrounding states.
A new congregation in East Brunswick. Fr. Bishoy Demetrious — ordained by Pope Shenouda III in May of that year — arrived in August 1977 to serve the newly formed St. Mary congregation, which he went on to shepherd for decades.
Fr. Bishoy is elevated to Hegumen. In July 1986, Fr. Bishoy's service to the congregation was honored with his elevation to Hegumen.
An Egypt mission trip. Members of St. Mary served on a mission trip to Egypt (Khatatba & El Menya), documented in the video "St Mary East Brunswick Church 2016 Egypt Mission" on the church's YouTube channel, Saint Mary Coptic Orthodox Church of East Brunswick.

Fr. Bishoy Demetrious and a new congregation. Fr. Bishoy was ordained on May 22, 1977 by Pope Shenouda III — the first ordination on American soil by His Holiness — to shepherd the newly formed St. Mary congregation. He arrived on August 15, 1977 and began visiting and serving the congregation, organizing its committees, including the Ladies Committee, Bible Study, Youth, Sunday School, Summer Camp, Servants, and the Annual Festival.
Elevated to Hegumen. In July 1986, Fr. Bishoy's service to the congregation was honored with his elevation to Hegumen.
Fr. Bishoy departs in peace. After almost 32 years of shepherding St. Mary, Fr. Bishoy departed on February 10, 2009 — remembered for his immense love for his flock, his patience, and his good humor.
